Dr. Shajiuddin Faraz Mohammed, MD, MPH, FAPA

Dr. Shajiuddin Faraz Mohammed is a board-certified psychiatrist with expertise in child, adolescent, and adult psychiatry. He is the founder of Zen Psychiatry PLLC and served as the President of the West-Hudson Psychiatric Society. Dr. Mohammed brings over a decade of clinical experience, combining evidence-based care with a compassionate, patient-centered approach.
Dr. Mohammed is a core faculty member in the psychiatry residency program at St. Vincent’s Hospital and an Adjunct Clinical Assistant Professor of Psychiatry. He has extensive experience in outpatient psychiatry, consultation-liaison services, and neuromodulation, including TMS therapy for treatment-resistant depression and OCD. He also provides psychiatric consultation to educational institutions such as Southern Westchester and Putnam Northern Westchester BOCES.
With advanced training from New York Medical College/Westchester Medical Center and a Master’s in Public Health from Connecticut, Dr. Mohammed has received numerous awards for clinical excellence, teaching, and research. He is also a Fellow of the American Psychiatric Association and a published researcher with national and international presentations in psychiatry and public health.
Fluent in multiple languages and deeply committed to community mental health, Dr. Mohammed integrates mindfulness and holistic principles into his practice. He continues to advocate for collaborative, culturally sensitive, and innovative psychiatric care across all stages of life.
